"Charles L. Heath Jr., was the son of Dr. Charles L. Heath Sr., & Mary Frances Chance.
 
"Dr. Heath practised medicine in Indian Creek in Knox County, Kentucky and later in Knox County, Tennessee in the Powell area.
 
"Dr. Heath was the son of James L. Heath and Sarah Priestly. James L. Heath was born in 1835 in Livingston County, New York where he later married Sarah Priestly. He moved to Clinton County, Michigan at the outbreak of the Civil War. He served in the Union Army for the Minnesota Sharp Shooters. In his pension statement he states he moved to Knoxville, Tennessee in the 1880s. His family settling in the Treeville area of Knox County. He and his wife Sarah are buried in Knox County off Blacksferry Road.
 
"Dr. Charles Heath and his wife Mary Frances Chance (daughter of William Chance and Eliza Williams of Knox County, Kentucky) both died in Knox County, Tennessee.
They are buried at Barbourville, Kentucky. 
   
"Ralph Freels in the above mentioned commencement later married Virginia Heath sister of Charles Heath Jr.  Virginia Heath Freels taught grade school for many years in the Powell area retiring in the nineteen sixties.  Ralph Freels' parents were Jesse T. Freels & Nancy E. Copeland of Knox County. Ralph Freels married Virginia Heath sister of Charles Heath Jr. Both men mentioned in the commencement booklet.
 
All of the above mentioned Heath family members are deceased. Charles L. Heath Jr., was my father's step father."
