Youth Council

The first Youth Council was formed in 1950.  It consisted of five boys and five girls.  At that time the council was responsible for Youth Week.  This was the original function of the council.  The young people held services at the jail and the rest homes during this time.  In 1971, the council represents everyone from twelve to twenty-nine years of age.  An annual Thanksgiving Breakfast is held, also a Christmas Party for the underpriviledged [sic] children.  Summer and Winter Retreats are also a part of the program.  The council has fifteen members and meets at least once a month.  A project for the past few years has been the parking of cars during the TVA & I Fair.  This money is used for various mission needs that arise during the year.
