Even though Knoxville High School has been closed since 1951, strong feelings for it have continued. And because this year marks the centennial of the opening of the Albert Baumann, Sr.-designed building on East Fifth Avenue, alumni are planning a big celebration. On May 29, a morning open house and program will be at the former school, followed by a lunch and special gathering open to the public at the Tennessee Theatre. Among those taking part will be actor David Keith, whose mother, Hilda Coulter Keith, attended the high school. "It's going to be a celebration program," said Sproul, president of the alumni group. "We hope to fill up the Tennessee Theatre." Those wanting more information may call Sara Frazer at 865-588-6098. Read the full story and view photos at KnoxNews.com |
