Desperatly seeking information on the marriage of John Tate GASTON toLula or

M y grandfather Henry Ernest Taliaferro, born in the foothill area ofSmokey
Mtn.s in Knox County around 1895, his mother Minnie Gibbs wasCherokee, she left
her son on the door step of the Taliaferro familyin Birchwood,Tenn. The
Taliaferro's I am told were missinarys to theCherokees. I have not been able to

My grandma was Bessie Louise Helton. She was born in Knoxville, Tnon October 4,
1905...she may have been previously married. She wasin Knoxvill around June 22nd
of 1926 when my Aunt Betty Lou was born.For years we all were led to believe
that my Aunt Betty had beenadopted and that her mother was of
"questionable" character. I foundout after some research that I
believe my grandma Bessie was eithermarried or with a man named Theodore Jenkins
of Knoxville. He waswhite and 35 years old and was a mill worker at the time of
my aunt'sbirth. My grandmother was said to be a 21 year old housewife (its agood
chance they were married) This was the first of eight childrenborn to my
grandma, one of which is my mother Dora Lee Parton. Mygrandma's parent's were a

John WOOD was provided a land grant of 1820 acres, north of theHolston River and
south toward the mouth of French Broad River forhis service in the North
Carolina line during the Revolutionary War. This grant was provided in November,

I am searching for descendents of Melissa Anne CASTEEL STANSBERRY. She was born
in the late 1880's in Tennessee, daughter of EdmundCasteel and his second wife

My g-grandmother was Mary Helen BROWN b. 24 May 1857 somewhere in east TN.(I'm
assuming Knoxville) m. James Samuel DOWNS 24 Dec 1879. I found their m. license
in the court house at Sparta. It says James Downs to Helen Brown. In a hand
written note my grandmother says they m. at either Cane, Cone or Cave,TN in
White Co. I found them in the 1880 census in Sparta. Their first child was named
Mary Conklin Downs. She was born 24 Sept 1880 in Knoxville. She died in 1889 in
Bridgeport, Ala. and was buried in Knoxville. That is why I believe the
Knoxville was Mary Helen's home. Their next children were my grandfather George
Washington DOWNS b. 8 May 1884 in Louisville, KY. Oscar Alan DOWNS b. 7 Aug 1886

CHILDRESSES of Knox County Tennessee: The Childress family was one of the
earliest to place roots in Knox County with the arrival prior to statehood of
two brothers who served in the Rev. War. John and Mitchell Childress bought land
in the Bull Run area in the northern part of the county and have many desendants
still in this area. I invite any Childress descendant to contact me with the

Harvey, Charles S. born 1855, VA, died 1908, married Mary Susan Tucker , born
1856, died 1923, lived near Concord TN. Children - Floyd J., born 1888, Dart,
Hobart, Hugh, Eulage, Sara. Who were his parents? Who were her parents? Where
are they buried? Family history says Charles served as drummer boy in Civil War,

JAMES MONROE CASTEEL m SUSANNAH UNDERWOOD in 1833 in Knox County Tennessee. They
subsequently moved to Macoupin County Illinois and had a large family, one of
whom was JAMES POLK CASTEEL, my grandfather. I have all the known descendents (I
think) but have no further information on ancestors or siblings of JAMES MONROE
CASTEEL and I have no information on any UNDERWOOD I would appreciate any

Looking for information on my Great-Grandfather: Noah Herman Brown. He married
Lillie Mae Bledsoe and they had 5 children; Mary, Ruby, James, Frank, and
Horace. Noah build houses and lived in Knox County before moving to Tampa, FL
