Hi List

My mother, Dorothy Hopson, grew up in Knox County and graduated from Central

High School in Fountain City in 1934. Although she and both her parents were

born in Claiborne County, I know there are lots of relatives in Knox today.

I would love to hear from anyone researching HOPSON, HAMIC (HAMMOCK,

HAMMACK), JANEWAY, BUNCH. Also from the Claiborne County branches of WELLS,

LEWIS, WALKER. Some old lines that are no longer alive in the area (but were,

in the 1800's) are CASADA (CASSADA), FLETCHER, BOYERS. Also McAMIS of Greene

County.

Hi Everyone!

My connection to Knox County is through my maternal grandfather James =

Arthur Luttrell. His father was Robert Jackson Luttrell, mother Myrah =

Evaline Cate. Robert was Postmaster of Kangaroo, TN, also served Knox =

Co, possibly as sheriff, (I have old receipts going back to 1890's). =

Robert's parents were Peter Jackson & Sally/Sarah Fisher.=20

The Fisher line has been hard to find anything on, Myrah Cate goes =

back to Perry/Plumley. I am working on DAR papers through Jesse Perry.=20

James Arthur left Knoxville about age 20 for Illinois, married, then =

ended up in Iowa.=20

I started working on family history about 20 years ago, at the same =

time my mother was. I got sidetracked with working & just started again =

when we got the internet about 2 years ago. I've also started sending =

for records & have vistied a couple of local courthouses, along with =

finding new email "cousins." Family names in Knox Co. are LUTTRELL, =

CATE/S, PERRY, and PLUMLEE/EY.

Tennessee is full of information, I wish the other states were the =

same way. This list has been great!!!

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Introduction

Hi,

I'm Judy Germann from Junction City KS, descendant of the Love's in Knox

County.

My line is through Samuel Love Sr, (son of Joseph Love and Mary Teas).

Samuel

died in Knoxville in 1826 "an old and respected citizen" according to his

obit, but

that's all it said.

He had seven sons by a first wife we have been unable to locate. His second

wife

was Mary (Polly) Smith by whom he had no children. Those sons were, Robert,

Joseph L, William, David, Samuel, John and Isaac. ( John married Nancy

McSpadden, Samuel married Charlotte Bell, and Joseph married Mary Bell.

The names of David and Robert's wives are unknown, as I have been unable

to place them. William died in Rhea County apparently unmarried.)

I descend from his son Isaac Love, b. 1782, moved via IN and IL to MO.

He died in MO 1866. His wife was Phoebe Connelly, who's family I have

been unable to locate, but believe they married in Knox County ca 1810. She

may be a sister to the Olivey Connelly/Conley who married Robert Rhea

in Knox County in 1806 or 1809. (typing from memory here folks.)

His son Harvey Connelly Love m/ Martha Ellen Sands, and they had Lee

Davis Love, born at end of Civil War, hence the name. Lee m/ Anna

Eliza Imboden, and they had my grandfather William Ernold Love who

married Clara Bacon. My father was James Lee Love.

Have researched twice in Knox County. Once about 28 years ago when I

knew so little I couldn't do anything right! and about 5 years ago, but I

still

have not found what I need on this family. Three years ago I joined the

Love group meeting in Nashville and researched there, but am at a standstill

on my Knox County research. I keep hoping though.

Judy

Hi List:

I am searching for Lawson's and Rule's in Knox County.

William A. Lawson & Mary Catherine Rule were married there on 8 Aug 1841 in

Knoxville, she was the daughter of George Rule and Mary Menker. William's

parents are unknown. He had a brother Charles who married Margaret Allen on

the 5th of Jan 1843 also in Knoxville, and another brother George Lawson who

married Sarah Berry on the 6 Jun 1849.

Anyone working any of these lines?

Sherry Combs
