Subject: [KnoxCoTN] WWII War Dog Memorial

Did anybody besides me NOT know the UT Vet School in Knoxville has the WWII

War Dog Memorial (address is 2407 River Drive)? This is so cool! My

husband's father joined the army during the war and donated his dog to

serve. Does anyone else have a doggie veteran? If so, you might want to

check this monument out.

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Passing those long winter days and nights...

I'm finally getting caught up on the transcriptions our volunteers

completed last spring (guilty blush) so we can get them on our Knox County

TNGenWeb site. And, I'm getting the next big project ready...but I need help!

I've scanned and converted the text on about 250 pages from the rare book,

Knox County in the World War (WWI). It's loaded with history -- how Knox

Countians served locally and in the military -- and the service records for

hundreds of veterans. It's also got more than 50 pages of general pictures

and the phots of nearly 3000 veterans. I can't wait to get it on-line!

If you're a detail-oriented person who enjoys proofreading, plus you've got

some spare time in the next few weeks, please let me know. I'll send you

some printouts to work from!
